Our lives unfold within patterns that are larger than ourselves. Understanding these patterns allows us to participate more consciously in the unfolding of our lives.
Jyotish—the traditional astrological system of India—offers a language for understanding our relationship with consciousness, nature, place, and time. Rather than standing apart from life, it helps us recognize our place within it.
I offer conversational birth chart readings rooted in the Jyotish tradition to provide greater orientation, self-understanding, and relationship to the broader cycles shaping our lives.
What to Expect
Each reading begins with a brief intake form so I can understand your questions and areas of focus. Before we meet, I spend two to three hours studying your chart and preparing for our conversation, allowing our session to focus on dialogue, reflection, and exploration rather than interpretation in real time.
Depending on your interests, we may explore:
- your innate strengths and gifts
- recurring life patterns and challenges
- current planetary cycles and larger life seasons
- relationships, vocation, or spiritual practice
- important developmental themes in the years ahead
When appropriate, I also suggest traditional upāyas—supportive practices drawn from the Jyotish (also known as Vedic Astrology) tradition that cultivate greater balance and harmony with the patterns revealed in the chart. These may include acts of generosity or service, contemplative practices, simple ritual offerings, lifestyle adjustments, or other forms of personal development. I think of these less as remedies than as invitations to participate more consciously in your own unfolding.

What We Explore
A birth chart offers many possible points of entry. Some people come with questions about work or relationships. Others are navigating a transition or simply seeking a deeper understanding of themselves. Wherever we begin, my intention is to help illuminate the larger patterns and cycles shaping your life—not to provide certainty, but to cultivate greater awareness and orientation.
Every one of us is shaped by patterns that operate largely outside conscious awareness. We inherit them through family systems, culture, habits of mind, relationships, and deeper karmic tendencies.
Jyotish offers a sophisticated framework for making some of those hidden patterns visible. In that sense, it shares something with both systems thinking and shadow work. Before we can change a system, we first have to understand the forces organizing it. A birth chart becomes one way of observing those organizing patterns within ourselves.
Awareness doesn't erase those patterns. It creates the possibility of relating to them differently.
Why Jyotish?
Each of us enters this life at a unique place and moment in time.
A birth chart records those coordinates—the place on Earth where you were born, the exact moment of your birth, and the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, stars, and horizon at that instant. Together, these form the reference point from which Jyotish—often translated as the science of light—explores the patterns, tendencies, and timings that unfold across a lifetime.
Rather than defining who we are or predicting exactly what will happen, the chart offers orientation—a way of understanding our place within a much larger whole.
One of the reasons I study Jyotish is that it understands the individual as inseparable from the larger living world. A birth chart is fundamentally relational. It describes patterns between planets, the five elements, cycles of time, and the individual within the larger cosmos.
This is where Jyotish naturally intersects with the broader inquiry of Pangaea. The same elemental principles that shape ecosystems, cultures, and the Earth's living systems also provide another language for understanding the hidden patterns organizing our own lives.
A Different Relationship with Time
Among the deepest insights Jyotish has offered me is a different understanding of time.
Like astronomy, Jyotish depends upon careful mathematical observation. It precisely measures celestial movements and cycles. Yet beyond calculation, it also understands time as carrying distinct qualities, rhythms, and developmental possibilities.
Some cycles unfold over hours or days. Others unfold across months, years, or even decades. Just as ecosystems move through rhythms of growth, maturation, decline, and renewal, so too do our lives. Understanding these larger cycles doesn't tell us exactly what will happen. Rather, it offers context for the season we are living through and the kinds of learning, responsibility, or growth that season may invite.
One of the gifts of Jyotish is learning to recognize these nested cycles—not as fixed predictions, but as an invitation to develop a more conscious relationship with time itself. Rather than asking us to control time, it invites us to understand the rhythms we are already moving through.
Jyotish invites us to ask not only "Who am I?" but also "When am I?"
Training & Lineage
I have been studying Jyotish since 2017 and continue to learn from the tradition, my teachers, and the charts themselves.
My studies draw from two complementary streams of Jyotish.
Through Penny Farrow and Steven Highburger, I have studied in the lineage of Hart de Fouw and K. L. Mantri, rooted in careful engagement with the classical texts and their application to contemporary life.
Through Komilla Sutton, Freedom Cole, and Eric Rosenbush, all students of Sanjay Rath, I have studied in the lineage of Śrī Achyutananda Das, which approaches Jyotish within a broader yogic and contemplative tradition.
I am a certified Level I Science of Light Astrologer through Freedom Cole's Science of Light program and continue to study with teachers from both lineages. I remain deeply grateful for the wisdom, rigor, and distinct perspectives each has brought to my practice.
